Volume 6. Issue 2. 2026.
Editorial Preface
The focus of the second issue of the sixth volume of the online journal Volunteering Review is on the role, forms and methods of mentoring in the operation of civil-nonprofit organizations. We believe that mentoring is playing an increasingly significant role from a volunteer management perspective, and we wanted to contribute to documenting and developing this situation in Hungary. The first of the theoretical studies—based on a review of the international literature—examines the connections between mentoring and volunteering. The second theoretical study introduces a new perspective based on an examination of higher education students who engage in volunteering. The topic of a future-oriented work ethic—generally in terms of volunteer management and specifically in terms of mentoring—may have important implications for organizations that employ volunteers as well. The case studies examining the practical and methodological implementation, forms, and role of mentoring within the operations of civil society and nonprofit organizations that employ volunteers are highly diverse. We can read examples of its forms as implemented in the fields of community culture and youth volunteering, as well as in the operations of humanitarian and educational civil society and nonprofit organizations. In the review section, you can read a study on mentoring, a review of a recently published book, and a conference report.
